Preamble

We, Pigeon the First, by the grace of Gods King of Hollow, First among the Noble Equals, Duke of the Remaining Royal Provinces, the Lord-Mayor of the City of Hollow, the Most Excellent, the Most Just, the Defender of the One True Faith, Subservient only to the True Holy Gods, in agreement with Our Parliament, deem it proper to issue the following law:

Body

§1 Royal and State Predicates

  1. The Kingdom of Hollow formally confirms its recognition and use of the predicate
    • (a) The Hollow, His Most Glorious Majesty (HMGM), or His Majesty (HM) for the Sovereign;
    • (b) His Royal Majesty (HRM) for the issue of the Sovereign entitled thereto under House Laws.
  2. The Kingdom of Hollow formally confirms its recognition and use of the predicate
    • (a) Honourable (Hon) for members of Parliament;
    • (b) Right Honourable (Rt Hon) for members of the Government;
    • (c) Right Honourable and Learned (Rt Hon Lrn) for judges and the clergy;
    • (d) Voice of the Hollow (VH) for the Prime Minister.

§2 Noble Predicates

  1. The Kingdom of Hollow formally confirms its recognition and use of the predicate
    • (a) His Serene Highness (HSH) for the Dukes, the Lord Speaker, and the Prince of Justice;
    • (b) His Illustrious Highness (HIH) for Counts and Lords of Justice;
    • (c) His Highness (HH) for other nobility except as lower written;
    • (d) Lord, His Lordship, or His Nobility for Barons and non-landed nobility such as Knights and Dames;
    • (e) His Holiness (HH) for Bishops, and the Most Holy (MH) for Archbishops.
  2. Each of the Noble Families may continue to regulate their style of titulature by House Laws insofar as is appropriate and customary; hitherto mentions of predicates in house laws remain in force unless in absolute conflict with this decree. Unless the relevant House Laws or a Decree of HMGM the King countersigned by the Prime Minister or a Minister in his absence provides otherwise, consorts of landed nobility are afforded the same predicates, and the issue and heirs, both male and female, of the Dukes are afforded only the predicate His Highness.

§3 Creation of New Nobility

  1. New landed nobility may only be created by nobility equal or higher than the rank of Duke or by HMGM the King. The creation of non-landed Barons and Knights is permitted for Counts as well.

§4 Gender and Equivalency

  1. Wherever this Decree uses the word "His" it may be replaced with another pronoun when appropriate.
  2. Nobles of equivalent rank under §2/1 are entitled to the same predicates. The Sovereign may, by special dispensation, allow for or confirm the use of a higher predicate.
